LostThings: Locate Lost Apple Devices With Amazon Alexa

Amazon’s Alexa is one of the most powerful voice command services on the market.  With the Amazon Echo selling over 3 million devices since it’s inception, the possibilities are endless.

Amazon sells 3 of their own Alexa-enabled devices: the Echo, the Tap, and the Dot.

I decided I wanted to create a skill, as Amazon calls it’s Alexa ‘apps’.  The team at TrinixCreative sat down and brainstormed an idea to create a skill that helps you locate your iPhone (after all, we frequently lose ours). But what about your other Apple devices? Your Macbook.. iPad.. and even Apple Watch. What if you lose those?

Now with LostThings on the Alexa Skill Store, you can locate all of these devices.  LostThings utilizes the power of the cloud and connects directly to your Apple iCloud account. It makes it easy to find any of your Apple devices.

Just simply have Alexa ask LostThings to find a device, and a sound will be played on the device as well as the physical location sent to your Alexa app.

This simple advancement in voice technology has endless possibilities. From simple skills that locate your phone, to more advanced ones that help your clients interact with your product or brand, voice command systems will change the way that people use modern technology.

It sure can! Just say “find my iPhone” and it will allow you to choose which device you’d like to locate.
